This assignment was to visualize a sound from a specific environment that we listened to for 20 minutes. In my piece, I sat on the sidewalk of a Brooklyn street in a Thursday afternoon. The drawing shows an “erosion” of lines, this is how I visualized all the cars that passed by, the length of the lines symbolize the “heaviness of each sound. As I sat parallel to the road, to my left was a wall, and in the visualization it shows a white box for silence. The line that draws horizontally is a constant sound that was somewhere in the background, possibly construction. The colorful shapes are a visualization of people passing and conversing, some louder, some sharper, and fast-speaking.
