PEEK-A-BOO

PEEK-A-BOO

The idea of our project was to play with the expected versus the unexpected. The space of 8 cubic meters that we decided to explore is “under a blanket” (2x2x2).

We started by sketching things that most people would think are “innocent” : kids playing on a tree branch, tourist in the metro, and someone in the park holding an umbrella. But all these are supposed to be just the expectations of the viewers when they see it under a blanket. Inside this space however, we put very different scenarios and stories  from the expectations.

For instance, the one that people guessed was supposed to be 2 kids playing on a tree branch and holding balloons, is actually 2 kids with creepy masks and red balloons that have pictures of their dead parents, that they killed.

The one with the umbrella looks like it’s one person holding an umbrella in park, but, once you remove the blanket you find out that there are actually four people in a funeral with one of them holding a knife and crying blood.

Finally, the last one viewers would probably guess from the outline of the blanket and the background, that it is a person holding a suitcase travelling somewhere, maybe a tourist. However, inside this suitcase are ziplock bags with raw meat inside and labels of people’s names.
