Assignment: 2D Time Map
Medium: Watercolor, foil tape, Sharpie, Micron Pen, Charcoal
For this assignment we started by note taking the sensory information felt during the process of waking up in the morning, on three different occasions. I found it particularly difficult to focus solely on senses and not drift into feelings.
Inspiration: While brainstorming ideas for my time map, I visited the Guggenheim Museum and was inspired by Gego’s repeating line drawings and tested out repeating lines in my rough draft, but eventually ended up using thicker repeating brush strokes to emulate the pattern of everyday activities. The repeating brick-like pattern is used to contrast the sounds and smells unique to each day as shown in the splatter marks both at the top of the composition and bottom.
