Interview: When interviewing Emma, many of the questions were quite personal and consisted of topics such as religion and beliefs about life after death. I asked her about her interests and what she will do over the weekend and she mentioned how in a couple days it would be October 1st and she grew up with a superstition of having to say “rabbit” as soon as you wake up on the first of each month. This fascinated me because I did not grow up superstitious and researching more about the origins of superstition helped make sense to a lot of seemingly pointless actions.

I decided to make a board game based around superstition because Emma mentioned how although most superstitions are based on century old beliefs, a lot of the time they don’t feel justified and are mainly out of fear of bad luck.

With this idea of a game against bad luck, I wanted Emma to feel her superstitions are justified even though it may not be aware to her right now. The tokens of the logo are manipulated to play more into the theme of bad luck and good luck and the red is replaced with purple because Emma mentioned how it was her favorite color.
