Wood Joineries Experiment Piece

The final project for my Space class is to create a piece of wearable wood. To prepare for the project, we were asked to make a piece of work that uses the different joineries we learned in class. Each of the three joineries should appear at least five times in the piece. I have decided to make an abstract piece that expands on the surface.

By using geometrical shapes such as triangle and square, I was able to explore the different effects they create when they are joined next to each other. Through the different pieces of wood used, I have also achieved to experiment with flat surfaces and more dimensional surfaces. For example, the triangular shapes are flatter than the cubes and rectangular pieces.

The piece has a distinct look from each side, including above and below. The three colors I chose to paint the sculpture with were intentionally to be saturated blue, red and yellow. This way, I can enhance the expression of sides and dimensions as I wanted to in this piece. Below are pictures of the piece viewing from different angles.
