Experimentation
For my wampum inspired design draft I chose the capital letters each member in my family in the Maya language. However for my final piece I decided I wanted to do something related with my cultural background as my wampum inspired design theme is Family.
I chose a temple I’m situated in Beijing, China. The only place I’ve travelled with my family is China because they are too busy with work and this is a remarkable place for me when we went there for vacations. The temple represent unity for me and my family.
I used the pattern that I liked the most and I used rotation, scale, reflection and different colors to fill the temple. At first, I used a black background but I changed it to white because I wanted the whole piece to have bright connotations which are symbolic of the good memories with my family.
