50 Tips on Self-Care

For my first project in Mental Health + Design I designed a self-care book with 50 tips to fight depression and anxiety while encouraging self care. The idea sparked because of my own experience battling these two mental illnesses. The book is a pocket size for people to be able to carry it around for constant reminders when they are feeling anxious or sad. The 50 tips were inspired from research and personal experience and I drew some line drawings in photoshop to go along with each tip. After I had every drawing and tip placed in photoshop, I exported the image and transferred it to InDesign to create the book. After that I printed out 20 copies and handed them around the university area and Washington Square Park with a note asking them to provide some feedback to me via email after 3-7 days using the tips in my book. The feedback was amazing! People told me that they were feeling better when they followed the tips, that they stopped taking life “too seriously” and enjoyed more the little, simple things in life. Overall, I feel this project was really successful, I would love to print it out professionally and give it out in SHS or around the streets !
