MONUMENTS FIELD TRIP

After doing brief research about the context, history, relevance, etc pertaining to each monument, before even visiting them, the AIDS memorial interested me the most. It was very concerning to me that I have visited this city 10+ times before coming to live in this city and never have I ever heard about this monument or seen it on websites as a listed place or monument to come visit. The narrative behind this memorial is so important to history as well as current events especially with who our president is.

After visiting this monument I was kind of disappointed. I was looking forward to seeing it after all the research and things I had learned about it. I found this memorial to be rather tedious.

I think this memorial should be more colorful to represent the thousands of different people who died because of AIDS. This memorial should interest you if you see it from a block away and make you want to go read and learn more about it. This memorial should combine two elements 1. grabbing younger generations eyes and interesting them to come and learn more and 2. serve as a memorial for all those who passed away to this disease and those who spent their lives fighting for these people.
