Interview Assignment

Hello Mr. Sypher-Culp, I’m very happy to have you here I just wanted to start of with kind of a general question, how have things been for you recently? Tell me about what’s been going on.

Things have been great they’ve been really busy, the fashion communications industry involves a lot of travel for me, I’m in Europe a lot, I’m in LA when I can be, I’m in New York, it’s busy but its great. Everything’s been wonderful at home the kids are doing fabulously, they’re starting grade school, my husband Sams 50th birthday is coming up so I’m starting to plan for that. Everything’s been great, choosing to work in an international industry has posed its issues but when you love it you love it. I just make the best of what it is

I have to ask because your family life and your kids are obviously very important to you, I’m wondering how that plays into your work and how you balance your two worlds? Where the kids are when you’re doing your international jobs and how they inspire you in your day to day life.

Of course, I’m very lucky to have a stay at home husband for that kind of situation. Sam works in logistics which isn’t exactly a traveling job and if he ever has to travel it usually works out so that it’s at a time when I can be home. That’s been great, they love spending time with their dad it’s been lovely at home.

More on the professional side I’d love to know what your vision for the next couple of years of your profession is. Are you planning anything that we can look forward to? Next couple of years where do you see yourself going?

Obviously I can’t get into anything too specific about what’s coming and what’s being released on either my end or my husbands, but at this point I do feel comfortable enough to kind of pull back from work a little bit. I think both of us will be doing that in the future and I’ll be balancing my life a little more towards the social and familial side of things.

So maybe slowing down a little bit and focusing on the people around you?

I’d say just picking up different paces. It’s just change, never slowing down just moving into different areas.

So I’ve heard you talk a lot about international traveling, I’m wondering what that kind of situation looks like. How often are you traveling and where?

I travel often to Paris because my family is from there so it’s very comfortable for me to be able to kind of work and live there, not to mention much of my work is based there. Sometimes it’s pretty hard, the flights are long and trips to the airport get boring but the industry is always moving so I have to follow. I mean you know how fashion week is its basically a month of hopping around from city to city.
