Designer for AMU
I like the minimalistic and grainy effect of the pictures. This immediately reminded me of my childhood and film cameras because back then where digital cameras were not too advanced. I like how the models do not show emotion but the photographs are eerie and serious. I believe that Do Ho Suh’s life is complicated and dark in some ways because he still struggles to find his identity because of his multicultural background. Even though Do Ho Suh’s uses various different colors for his installation pieces, the pieces are installed in white space. I want to also use a minimal and white background for my shoot as well.

He is a photography student at SVA and what I really like about his pictures is that his pictures are usually very soft and gives off a nostalgic feeling to the audience. He focused on the model for this picture and chose to take this picture in white space, but he usually focuses on shooting pictures in outdoor settings. I definitely want to find a white and clean background and photoshop the image so that I can make it appear nostalgic.

This is a page on Instagram and I was inspired by the grainy feel of the pictures and the nostalgic and home sweet home aesthetic. I really liked how a lot of the pictures on their feed included images of people covering/ hiding with layers of cloth. I would like to recreate this by covering my face with the garment I am wearing. Since I used organza for my ensemble my face is not going to be fully covered, but is definitely going to show layers.
