Design Studio 2: Assignment 2

For the assignment, I began by developing a series of models that focused on the aspect of ADJACENCY, using the horizontal and vertical planes to amplify my analysis of the site.

It was a process of experimentation that used the use of different materials and concepts to explore the adjacency. I wanted the site to be a significant focal point for the neighbourhood contributing to every aspect of its surroundings.

I then proceeded to give these photographed models relevance by including scale figures in them.

These were the two models of significance that contributed towards my later studies. Everything was a progression on the development of these.

My next iteration of models used the fundamental concepts of the models above but, used geometric forms creating associations and adjacencies within each other. The relation of each piece to the next represents a geometric form in itself. While there are evident adjacencies that lie between the different programs around the site, I tried to pay attention to the subtle adjacencies associating with a pedestrian passing.
