Plastic Project #2 Communication

With the beauty industry making $62 in revenue in 2016 means that there are A LOT of used containers being thrown out after being used. Most of these used plastic containers are thrown out and end up in dumps or landfill along with the other things we throw out everyday. But how can we as consumers reduce to use of purchasing more and more plastic containers each time we buy new makeup? We can reuse them instead of throwing them out. For my semester long plastics project, I want to create a place where I can distribute more of what the consumers want without using new plastic to transfer the product. With this, I will need to communicate with beauty businesses and ask how much plastic they use when creating and distribute the product and I will create a way for consumers to get what they want without buying new plastic each time they want to purchase this product. The plastic I will be focusing on is, polyethylene terephthalate which is used for the containers of makeup. I will also interview multiple wearers of makeup and find out how they get rid of their makeup containers once they are used.
