Artist Statement:
The world develops every fast in each day, but our environment was sacrifice a lot by advancing in science and technology. Nowadays, people started to pay attention in protecting our environment, in this way, recycle and sustainable was always been talked by people. So what is the environmental protection? The environmental protection is the “practice of protecting the natural environment by individuals, organizations and governments. Its objectives are to conserve natural resources and the existing natural environment and, where possible, to repair damage and reverse trends.”
Below this topic, I started to combine my design with environment protection. During the research, I find out to be able to make my design sustainable, I need make my design by using recycle material. It also need to be used various ways. I have search a lot of recycle material online. Finally, I decided to use the newspaper as my main fabric of the clothes. I went to the book store and they give me some waste newspaper for free. After that, I went to University center and collect some fabrics and strings.
After I prepare all of those material, I started to design my dress. I cut the fabric into many circles and pin them together in mannequin. After the top part was pin together, I started to use the newspaper to make pleats. I also use the remains’ newspaper make some flower decorations as the choker and necklace. After I pin all of those fabric together, I use the sewing machine sewed them together.
My dress has several ways of wearing them, the top could also use as belt and the necklace could wear differently too. I hope my project could able to reflect my opinion of the recycle and sustainable.
