Common Low Voltage Lighting vs. China Solar LED Lighting
There is an ongoing debate about which type of landscape lighting is superior: Low Voltage Lighting or Solar Lighting Based on my personal experience, this article highlights some of the advantages and disadvantages of both.
Lighting with Low Voltage
This lighting comes in a variety of brightness levels and styles. The light emitted varies depending on the fixture, but it is usually very good. The electricity is supplied by a transformer, which is controlled by an automatic timer. Low voltage lighting is shock-free and suitable for use in the presence of children and pets. It’s also inexpensive, and the most difficult part of the installation is burying the wires.
The following are some of the advantages of low voltage lighting systems:
A professionally installed lighting system has been shown to increase property value and resale. Showing off your home at night with low voltage lighting also makes it easier for potential buyers to find your property. When compared to line voltage, low voltage is easier to install, safer to operate, more cost effective, and produces beautiful light. As a homeowner, you will be able to spend more time outside entertaining friends and family. Low voltage lighting can even be wired into your deck, providing excellent ambient lighting as well as direct lighting for your grill. Low voltage lighting systems are expandable, allowing them to be customized as needed.
Some disadvantages:
- Bulbs burn out and must be replaced.
- Wiring can be damaged and must be replaced.
- With the advent of daylight savings time, timers must be reset.
- Lighting from the Sun
Solar LEDs are used in solar lights instead of traditional bulbs. LEDs outlast any other light source, sometimes lasting up to ten years. This type of lighting requires no wiring and is the most energy-efficient because it recharges batteries using the sun’s energy. It is free to operate and simple to set up. It should not, however, be used to brightly illuminate large areas or for activities such as grilling and socializing.
Some of the advantages of solar lighting include are Lasts longer than other types of lighting. There is nothing to break, rupture, shatter, leak, or contaminate with LEDs. LEDs, unlike traditional light sources, are not affected by ultraviolet radiation. Burnout or sudden failure There is no point in time when the light source stops working; rather, LEDs gradually degrade in performance over time.
Reduced Maintenance Costs
Because LED-based light sources last at least ten times longer than traditional light sources, there is no need to replace the light, which reduces or even eliminates ongoing maintenance costs and periodic bulb replacement. This is especially useful if you have a difficult-to-reach area. Energy efficiency – When you use Solar products, you can rest assured that you are not contributing nearly as much to global warming or the energy crisis. The light source contains no mercury. By removing Mercury from your lighting system, you will be able to comply with new and increasingly stringent environmental regulations.
Some disadvantages:
Solar panels used in typical lighting fixtures must be small. This means they collect less solar energy to recharge the batteries. Areas that are frequently shaded or receive little sun geographically also have an impact on the fixture’s recharging capabilities. The lighting is usually dim and does not cover a large area. Because of the dim lighting, you have to use more fixtures, which gives the appearance of a landing strip, or if you use deck light fixtures, they end up looking like a swarm of bug zappers (without the ability to zap the bugs) Regardless of how long LEDs are supposed to last, in my experience, the solar panel usually becomes covered in dirt and the batteries don’t last nearly as long as they are supposed to. You must keep that solar panel clean or it will not work, which means more maintenance on a regular basis.
