For this Assignment, I had to create a proposal for a project that responds in some way. The proposal could either address a problem, or be a creative idea inspired by something witnessed. The winner of the proposal will be granted with $100,000 to create the project.
This is why, I decided to address a problem I encounter on a daily basis as a New School Student. I believe that there is a need to find art supplies late at night. For this reason, I want to propose an innovative, simple and useful vending machine, called: The Art Box that will address this problem and give exposure to artists from all around the world.
The Art Box, will be a 24-hour vending machine that will sell popular art supplies such as: acrylics, glue sticks, notebooks, duct tape, x-acto knives and amongst others. The Art Boxes will offer different materials depending on the department where it is located.
The Art Box’s sides will have glass, where I will be able to place pictures of artists’ work as well as a short biography of the artist. I will choose a different artist every month from a different country and students will be able to learn and gain inspiration from a diverse group of artists.
Art Boxes will be the solution to an unresolved problem that students encounter on a daily basis. It is such a simple concept yet; I am certain it will truly change the art school game.
