Coffee 2015 video six minutes

Content: what’s in the image? Subject?
The piece is a six minute long video, there’s a man who’s making coffee in a shed with a few customers sitting to the right underneath the shadow that is being cast over the seating area. Music echoes in the background.

Composition: camera angle, lighting, scale technical aspects, etc.?

The angle is landscape. The lighting come from the left, a long shadow resembling a later part of the day is cast on the dandy turf from a chair to the left and a shed at the center. The scale of the video is almost framed around the shed.

Context: why is it taken here? What is the meaning behind the image? When was it’s taken?

How much was taken in 2015 the meaning behind it is ambiguous but its purpose is to show man making coffee. The sounds echo. There is no rushing in the piece.

Connection:
The sense of familiarity between the customers, it’s so serene, the man comes and leaves and isn’t afraid the coffee will be stolen and he only arrived when he sees customers.

Comment: The meaning could just be to show the simplicity of how life can be in these areas, there is not big city rush, no fears of stolen possessions. The strength of this work is in its simplicity in depicting real life and capturing an environment in a six minute moment. It’s weakness may be in how ambiguous it may seem however this could also be seen as a strength. The lack of explanation serves for the imagination.
