Day 5: Seminar II – Curiosity Journal

Topic: Music

Think of a world where medication is limited,  where music is used as a powerful tool in enjoying and prolonging our lives? If that’s how we saw the world today, then we’d be able to learn and to understand the power of music and how it can enhance our lives for the better. I’ve always been sort of obsessed with music and I find that depending on the type music you choose to listen to, you can engage your mind in a powerful way that no other activity can. I truly believe that the benefits of listening to types of music such as classical, instrumental, or even things like Lofi and techno strongly dictate your mood. Throughout our lives, an endless constant that we can rely on filling the spaces in-between our existence can be filled with music. Listening to the type of music that mosts benefits you on a daily basis could literally become medication for some. I find it the greatest distraction and the greatest alleviation. Something that has always fascinated me is how calming some music can be, how interesting it is to feel the rhythms and beats of time calm your mind, body and soul. I’m a musician so I listen to different aspects of a song than others, I can feel tempo, approximate it, hear the different transitions and understand the order archetype being used in a song. It’s an incredibly fascinating feeling to understand what you’re hearing in depth and understand why an artist chose to add vibrato or increase in pitch in specific areas.
