For sustainable systems our class was assigned to create planters made out of the material ‘mycelium’ a mushroom like substance that grows over time into a hardened brick like object, and will mold to whatever structures you create for it.
Our concept ideas:
- make a sieve-like type of bowl where you could simultaneously plant the plants and have holes at the bottom for drainage purposes
- balance the pot on stilt-like wooden pegs and make it so that it can be elevated above other planters
- we are concerned about space in tiny Parisian apartments and roof gardens; space is of the essence and is essential that as much of it that can be used up, is.

In the end we ran into an issue with the hardening process, it seemed our structure was too wet and began to over-mold and fell apart, instead we decided with the contents to put it into a compost.
