Diary Collages
An Astronomical Patti
I created this collage on a 4×6 inch piece of cardboard with images scoping from Nebraskaland, NASA, and my favorite P. Smith magazines. It depicts Patti Smith emerging from the cloud while in the vast outer space. An astronaut sits confusingly on the moon, seeing this celestial phenomenon. I have this flower hole punch that I love to use, and I think it adds a playful mood to the collage.
Swan
I did this collage on a 4×6 inch piece of cardboard. I found the swan-like cloud in my NASA magazine and knew I had to incorporate it into my work. I wish I would’ve added a solid color to the background, so I didn’t have to look at the cardboard, but I still find it to be interesting! The crinkled material on the left is a plastic wrapping that I have saved, and it’s my favorite element to use (after my flower hole punch, of course).
Peace For All
I created another collage on a 4×6 inch cardboard piece with images from a fashion magazine and the same NASA magazine. I enjoyed these clouds, so I had to keep the theme going in this piece. I have a woman with a peace sign for a body, while also throwing up a peace sign. She has a nice long elephant trunk as her lower body while the feminine and oh so delicate image of a butterfly is repeated throughout as well.
