This past week I reflected on books, music and other art forms that inspired me or has led me to my thesis idea. A book called, “The year of the nightmare” takes a poetic take in narrative, an aspect of my narrative I would like to take on. Previously taking a poetry course, I want to focus on emotion and experience of a character in my story through a poetic language. After reading, “What it is” by Lynda Murray, I have also found inspiration in her experimental form, and how she successfully keeps her graphic novel consistent through her line.
This week I worked on the Risograph and making my font for my book. Next week I hope to experiment with painting backgrounds and creating forms and characters that could potentially lead the beginnings of my thesis and further my creative processes throughout the semester.
