In these two chapters, the author describes how new media impacts the public. As new media becomes more prevalent, people have different reactions. Companies, artists, designers, creators start experimenting with the new media. Critics are skeptical, people write books, articles, commentaries on how technologies are good, how technologies are evil and will be the end of mankind. “Professional” technologies become available to amateurs. In my opinion, I don’t think that new media is “new” media anymore once it hits the mainstream audience because once it enters the mainstream audience there is always something more modern and more experimental “new” media that is currently being researched and developed without the public knowing anything about it and that is the true new media.
