Postcard Exchange

About

For my sustainable systems project postcard exchange, inspired by Dear Data, I had to design a postcard using natural paints we made in our class and mail it to my classmate. For this project I was paired with Zofia, who lives across the Atlantic, in Poland. It was fun to work on this project as I had to design a postcard, record and enter some data, meet Zofia via zoom, and then physically mail the postcard.

Postcard

The data on front side is a bar graph that represent steps I have taken in past 10 days. Before coming to New York, I didn’t used to walk around this much. It is fun to walk around in the city because different building have different architecture and it feels like I’m inside a random time capsule. The front side of the postcard uses natural paints made from common holly, turmeric, and red chili powder.

I’m excited to see how long will this postcard take to reach its destination and what will be its condition.
