DRIVEWAY

This project, DRIVEWAY, represents my driveway where my siblings and i spent lots of time as kids. We loved drawing, playing basketball, washing cars, and playing many games in our paved driveway everyday in the summer.

These are examples of some of the chalk drawings we would cover our driveway in. We would also trace our bodies and draw little worlds for ourselves. I decided to recreate my driveway for this project using paper and marbles.

Process/Inspiration:

These two toys were my original inspiration for the project. I tried making a pathway out of metal for the marbles to roll in, but I was unsuccessful in making the pathway the same size throughout to secure the marble.  Since that didn’t work, I decided to make the path put of paper. The paper was not strong enough to hold the marble and was unsuccessful as well.

Since I couldn’t make a path, I decided to make it like this game where the marbles can represent the 3 cars my family has and they can be “parked” in the spots.
