Haptic Sculpture-Final Structure

This was the final composition of the abstract haptic figure.

 

Over the course of two weeks, we looked over how a few materials and corrugated cardboard can help make an abstract haptic sculpture. Composition, negative and positive space and balance of textures were kept in mind. This simply started off by creating wire sculptures whose shadows help us create shapes and then they were transformed into cardboard shapes. We then tried attaching all the pieces of different shapes and sizes together to make a successful design. My composition was more horizontal, with lots of pointy shapes which gave us a sense of alarm first. The pictures below show some of the process:

Evenrhough, this project was an abstract 3D sculpture, to me the sculpture was like fishes swimming in the ocean around sharp objects. Some people thought of it as a futuristic city landscape.It is amusing how different people view different objects and can create different stories connecting through some abstract shapes.
