Hello Everyone!
This is the last and final post for this class where you can view not only my final project presentation for the semester; but also an info card which speaks about my favorite place and what I can do about it in regards to the subject of Climate Change and the sentimental value it holds for not only myself but others, as well. Here is a brief overview. Enjoy!

Final Project Review: “Memories Washed Ashore”
Nearing the end of my Sustainable Systems class this year, I was assigned to choose a place that held some value to me and was asked to create a presentation about how Climate Change isinfluencing the location and what practices I could incorporate into my life to somehow improvethe situation. As a young child, I remember family trips during the spring and summer to a placecalled Lake Buchanan Dam. The area situated right on the South Shore of Lake Buchanan, theworld’s largest multiple arch dam; atop the Colorado River, and the local counties main source ofhydroelectric power to over a million people. My sister and I used to come here to: feed theducks, play in the sand, dig for seashells, and afterwards go pick strawberries at a local farm justup the road. However, one day this routine visit of ours came to an abrupt halt when we foundthe dam area to be gated, and barred for entry. My family and I never returned, though I haveheard it has opened back up.
Ever since the terrorist attacks of 9/11, it has been a prime target forterrorist attacks as the dam is often plagued with over-flooding and on the polar opposite isvictim to severe drought as well. The drought is half man-made as greedy rice farmers try to takemore water than is seasonally available in the area. This of course is due to generaloverpopulation and threatens several forms of aquatic life and other flora which rely upon thiswater source. Extinction is present with the bioregion’s tall grass and Texas Blind Salamanderdisappearing. If I were to aid in repairing any of these situations, I suggested that I couldpreserve diminishing water resources by recycling my cooking water, installing a rain barrel, disposing of my litter in the garbage where it belongs, and protecting the water by being moreconscious of what I decide to wash down the drains.
