STUDIO Bridge_1_Inquiry: Word & Image

“Looking back at that afternoon, you see 3 memories or no memory.” I made this poem when reading the daily diary sheets. Even within a same period of time, one day you might do and experience many things while the other day you might be doing nothing.

Through the critique it is pointed out that the upper part, from the “looking” to “you see,” looks also like a mouth. Though I intended to make it an eye looking down at the written words on a diary, that part doesn’t express the intention really well. If wanting to create an image with elements not directly related to the image in the future, I might need to know other viewers’ responses to it before finalizing the work.

Besides, this poster doesn’t really looks like a whole, cohesive design. Although the “you see” is pointing down following the reading sequence, the eye part and the two lines below it don’t interact with each other much. Maybe colors having the same overall energy of the lower part should be added into the eye part, or the “you see” can be more connected, visually and conceptually, to the two lines. By doing so the whole poster design might look much more interpreted and playful.

Also, since the “3 memories” is supposed to show a fill and vivid energy, playing with the letters’ placement more, like creating curves or putting them more randomly, may be a better approach for it.
