It’s a wooden dinosaur, named Dimitri, carved, shaped and functioning as a shallow container. I designed Dimitri the Dinosaur as not only a figural sculpture but also a functional object because I’ve often tended to think about the functionality when creating sculptural pieces.
I picked a MDF wood board from the leftover woods box at the Making Center. I then did the cutting, scooping and smoothing in the N2 Wood Shop. After the crafting, I applied several layers of wood conditioner onto the surface of the dinosaur to furthermore protect the raw material.
