Bridge 2: Seminar Reflection

Writing and art making have the same general purpose–to express ideas, yet they use different forms to express them. Writing uses words to describe or set up imagery in the reader’s head, well art making, in most cases, shows the imagery to the audience in a more direct way, leaving more room for the audience to interpret the meaning and concept. After all, writing is a form of art, so writing could be one of the ways of art making. The garment I made in this project is an arm of an armor that could help Ez get rid of the fear of sleepwalking by restricting and protecting him, audience seeing this piece could interpret it in many ways before they saw my explanation. It leaves the audience more room to interpret and make connections by themselves. In the fiction I wrote, I uses “an armor-like garment but only with one arm” to describe it. Without much detail, a reader could only imagine by themselves what does it actually look like. But with the context of the story, they are already given the meaning and concept of the garment.
