This project entailed us creating an original customized piece of armour that protected our body. I decided to make a gauntlet with a palm facing piece. I made this because I tend to collect a lot of “trash”, and in new york city, it’s a horrible habit to have. Hopefully this article of clothing with prevent me from doing it.
I started out with some ideas on design or function. 
Eventually settling on the protective gauntlet and triangles as the basic form used to create it. 
As you can see, my final form is pretty different from my original content. The making of the maquette helped me figure out some design flaws, and the final wood cutting and putting together allowed me to add the negative spaces and the balance in form.
Overall I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It feels solid and wearable, even if it is a bit heavy.
