Today in class we were assigned the second project, a Chindogu. A Chindogu is basically a useless item with a use. In other words Chindogu’s serve a purpose but couldn’t be used/sold in real life. After being assigned the second project we watched parts of the movie Objectified. This movie was about product design. In the movie I learned that it is not only important to have an aesthetically pleasing product but a product that is useful and fitting to the general public. Without these two key concepts the product will not sell well and consumers will not be attracted to it. I also learned that you must design for a certain group of people. If your design is too general it will not work for everyone.
Problems & Solutions:
- rain on your shoes = shoe umbrella
- smudged ink = ink drying pen
- takes too long to paint nails = all at once nail painter
- crosswalk too far = portable crosswalk
- no place to keep money = bra with pockets
- don’t have utensils = finger forks and knifes that attach like gloves to hands
