“Doves Locked Away” for Nastya Zhukova
The paper origami piece resembles a flower unfolding as it collapses from the top. Inside is a pair of origami doves flying toward each other as they’re held apart by opposite sides of the inside of the flower. The pair of doves are a sign of love and fidelity. As the flower opens, the two doves are pulled farther apart. The light and shadow give dimension to the inside and outside, creating a kaleidoscopic effect.
He Waits in Tokyo
In such a dark night, what made the blurred lines so bright? In the flashing of colors in a sea of people, how did his smile become the clearest sight in the room? The night passed quickly, the surrounding sound cascading into nothingness.
All that mattered was the moment; both on only each other’s minds. The emotions became her reality, the euphoric sense of wonder turned her to him once again.
The thoughts and emotions were endless, a summer of the two birds from two different trees. If only it could last and the trees would become a forest.
