Reflection:

Bridge 4 consisted of going into the city in groups of two, with a camera and our smiles to interview people and then photograph them.  Yes, it does sound just like people of New York but there was an added twist.  After the photos had been taken we were required to write descriptions for the people we had photos of.  We wrote 8 false descriptions and threw the real one in the mix to see if our classmates could guess the real description but also to challenge people to not look past first perceptions.

This process had a few speed bumps along the way, people that didn’t want to talk, me being shy, and people using technology were just a few.  I am a shy person when it comes to talking to strangers so obviously starting the conversations with these people  was difficult to me, especially when the first time I tried to talk to someone they declined my offer.  A lot of people were wearing headphones so that dwindled the number of possible conversations.  I ended up still talking to to a few people and I was glad that I did because they were all suck unique people that I would never had met if it wasn’t for this project.  I have since talked to more strangers and made more connections with people.

Writing false life descriptions for people was actually a lot more challenging than I had first anticipated.  I could write four super easily then struggled through the rest.  Barely anyone actually guessed my actual descriptions.  All of my people look so unique that they could literally be anything so it was hard to actually see what they were. This project ended up opening my eyes more to talking to strangers and connecting with people and I actually enjoyed the process.
