A Selfie With Words
Brown eyes, brown hair, tan skin, short, and alert on the outside but I don’t think who I am on the outside is very interesting. I am a young man. I still get called baby-faced and a boy or kid yet I can grow an (almost) full beard and buy cigarettes, smoke medicinal Cannabis in Colorado, and consent to sex legally. I am scratched and scarred. Not only physically scratched and scarred from doing “mountain town things” in Colorado like skiing, biking, hiking, and climbing but I am also mentally “scratched and scarred.” I blame my mental scarring on the places I have traveled and things I have seen. My trek to Chyamtang, Nepal was without a doubt the most influential event in my life. Seeing the polar opposite of life like our own in the U.S. has changed how I see the world and how I interact with people drastically and forever. I am much more critical in the way I analyze how the world works, which may be my greatest flaw or my greatest strength depending on the perspective you take. I see myself as Colorado, Nepal, the ocean, and the people I have met in those places.
