Sept. 27, 2017
I am going to get a tattoo today thus I don’t to wear something like a long blouse, which will bother me from having to roll up my sleeves while tattooing. Also to prevent accidental exposure when lying down, I wore long red pants with a pink oversized t-shirt. I am also wearing a pair of red socks with Common Projects sneakers. I didn’t like to wear pinkish clothing and accessories before I went to college because I didn’t like to dress too girly. Then I started to accept these after I saw many of Alessandro Michele’s designs for Gucci. My overall outfit is kinda boyish despite the color because I am wearing a man t-shirt and a man sneakers. Choosing a pair of right socks is vital. I love to wear colorful socks in pure color shoes because I think it will enhance the overall look. It is very rare to me to dress in street style, but I like the mixed appearances in this outfit.

I want to go to Whitney museum today to see Alexander Calder’s exhibitions. I am wearing a black t-shirt, a sparkling long silver dress, black Comme des Garcons Jacket, a pair of blue socks and oxford shoes. My outfit s always decided by my mood. I am excited to see my favorite designer Calder’s work. Therefore I want to wear my favorite socks! As Susan Kaiser states in her “Fashion and Cultural Studies”, “the meanings of appearance styles are negotiated in everyday social life through interaction with others. These negotiations-involving both visual and verbal discourse-enable fashion subjects to grapple with ongoing cultural tensions in subtle but complex ways.” (Kaiser 45) Calder’s works always bring me to the feeling of childhood’s dream of the universe and illusory utopia. I’ve always want to love in the world that he created. Thus I am wearing a sparkling dress with light blue socks, as I am in my childhood. I want to be as most comfortable as I can so I just bring a leather bag to carry my keys and water bottle.

My friend and I decided to go to Flushing and eat hotpot today. I am wearing a very thin silk pajamas(which I always wear as a jacket) because there will be very hot when eating hot pot, but maybe a little bit cold in Flushing. I wanted to dress more pretty because it is a weekend. I do not like to dress too much when I go to school because I still want to dress like a student. Thus I never bring luxury bags to school, but I will wear them on the weekend. Having a pretty outfit and wearing something that is sparkling always lightens my mood, especially I am going to eat hotpot. I am wearing sparkling/dazzling long socks also because they are 80% of all my socks. I like to wear a contrast color of socks with my Gucci oxford, for no reason. I love Gucci, and this Gucci oxford is one of my favorite shoes. It is applicable to walk all day long and is incredibly stylish.

I am wearing my vans shoes because I recognized that I am going to walk a lot today. My plan is going to fashion district to buy fabrics, materials for making fabric manipulation, and also some stationary things. Vans is the most comfortable one among all of my shoes. The weather is getting cold thus I am wearing long red socks. I will be having lunch with my friend, but my outfit will have no relevance to him. I always make decisions the night before of what I am going to wear the next day because I don’t want to waste my time while rushing to school. I don’t have a specific role or style. I just love oversized and baggy looking. That’s why I am wearing an oversized sweater and jacket today. I usually will put on a coat even the weather is not cold, because I am scared of schools’ AC or the weather will turn down unexpectedly. I always look at the temperature when I choose the outfit. Instead of overdressing myself, I wanted to be more warm and comfortable. The red socks brightened my outfit so that it won’t be too dull.

Today’s weather is warmer than yesterday. I chose this long black dress I bought in China. It is a very comfortable linen dress. I bought it because it looks like Yohji Yamamoto style. I am also wearing a thin and long sweater jacket to keep myself warm. I am not wearing a bulky sweater anymore because I will have two bags of things to carry today and I don’t want to bear too much weight. My Maison Margiela tabi flats are not that comfortable that I always get blisters after I wear it. But as soon as my blisters disappeared, I will forget the pain and wear it again. In rare situations, I will wear something uncomfortable when I love it. I have creative technical studio class today, so I’m bringing my Comme des Garcons paper bag that contains all my supplies. It is convenient just like Ikea bag. I can put almost everything in there because of its vast capacity. As I said earlier that I don’t have a specific style to dress. I always buy garment and accessories that attract me, no matter what style they are. Sometime I will wear in normcore style sometimes I will dress colorful and dazzling.

I don’t have class today and will be going to Tim Ho Wan with my friend for dinner. Since we are not going to a formal occasion, I don’t want to dress too much. I was planning to wear more cloth because the weather was pretty cold last two days, but today’s climate suddenly goes warm again. Thus I am wearing a simple v neck t-shirt with a navy loose pant. I put on my leisure wear and a Birkenstock slipper which I don’t usually wear when going to school. We might go to a Japanese market today to buy some snacks and Japanese bowls, but I don’t want to bring a bag. Thus I put on an oversized pink jacket. It has two big pockets that can fit my keyrings and cards.

I am going to Brooklyn today for my weaving class in Textile Arts center. The weather doesn’t seem really cold, but I am not sure if the classroom is cold. I am wearing a sleeveless long black dress with a navy thin sweater. Since It is a weekend class, I don’t have to bring any materials. Thus I choose to go with a petite leather bag just to carry my water bottle and keyrings, and a pen. I bought this leather bag this summer in Japan. It was a perfect stainless leather at first. But I accidentally spilled my makeup remover in my suitcase and noticed when I opened the suitcase again after I arrived. It was arrived too late to remedy. Thus when I went back home, I washed it thoroughly and let it dried. The final appearance turned out made me love it more than before. I think the value of a garment or accessory is the mark of time and experiences.
