This image is meaningful because my family members are in it. Since I have never met my great-grandparents, it feels like revealing something. Their smiles were warm and they looked very amiable. According to my dad, what they were wearing was typical at that time period, everybody’s clothes were like that.
- Discussion of its relationship to your design work or personal style.
My personal style is highly related to historical clothes, I like to combine historical clothes details or silhouettes with futuristic elements. The typical clothing my great-grandparents were wearing could be a start of inspiration to my work.

It’s meaningful because my dad(on the right) looks so young in this image. And I am surprised how colorful he dressed, he was also wearing this cool, very stylish sunglasses. I wonder what he was doing at that age. I also want to know why he chose that specific clothes. What’s more, the blurry effect, the old picture vibe and using the tree as part of the frame is intriguing to me.

This photo was taken around 1990, which is my favorite fashion reference time period(although I referred to the French and American fashion most of the time). The print of my dad’s clothes was interesting in the circumstances that he was wearing a tropical area view print in Beijing, a northern city in China.

The image is meaningful because of the aesthetic, the content and the old picture vibe. The female students looked so graceful. It is interesting to see what the classroom looked like in the 1940s. The hairstyle and clothing are very attractive.

The historical Chinese traditional clothes are shown in the picture, as long as other details, which make it a great inspiration photo and could be used as a mood board page. The hairstyle and length of the sleeve are interesting to analyze.
