Summary of what the movie is about

Movies is about the expansion of walk ways for pedestrians to enjoy more common space and eventually allow community building through social interactions. The short video showcases the interactions between the moving bodies within cities, how transportation systems allow or deprive those much needed interactions and perhaps how city planers can stimulate such values.

 What are the important elements described in the TED talks

The TED talks talked about the values of public spaces as tools of interactions, the elements presented in the talks revolved around the proactive participation of city planners and inhabitants of the place itself. The factors of this protectiveness involve architects and city planners to perform their usual practices in real life scale in order to directly stimulate and collect information that is relevant in real circumstances.

 What are the criteria for outdoor public space

Outdoor public space should emphasize humanity by the minimization of stores, optimization of sitting and interactive places. Criteria s revolve around increased allowance of pedestrians where automobiles usually drive around to permit more community space. Outdoor public spaces should also involve a decent amount of green spaces to stimulate organic relationships work the organics. The public place should be a space where many routes interact and allows space for temporary conversations between citizens.

 What are the criteria for indoor public space

Indoor public spaces involves, common sitting areas, large spaces to walk in and communicative factors such as bright colours, wide open doors and large windows. It should allow the visitor to feel outdoor just as much as indoors, one should feel like the design fits their bodies in a way that allows them to breath and full express themselves in the space in question.

Reflection

I learned from these talks that theoretical practices aren’t enough with regards to the implementation of relevant values withing public spaces aren’t necessarily the only tool to be successful in such projects. These speakers were elaborating on emphasizing the values of humanity in a proactive matter involving citizens and locals. These values are somewhat misrepresented within architectural educational systems and I pleased to learn more about this aspect
