Assignment #19 – Design Process: Stage 2 (Identification) & Stage 3 (Conceptualization)

For this assignment, we had to read two parts from the book Design Process by Karl Aspelund. It provided an insight into the second and third stage of designing an object which were Identification and Conceptualization.

After reading the two chapters, I tried to create mind maps and visualization charts to get across the main points in the chapters.

I think that these two steps are very integral to a design process because it is at this point that one starts to expand or narrow down their idea. Designing is full of constraints and working around them becomes the main focus of a designer so that the design is for everyone.
