Reflection
In this week of initial construction on my ensemble pieces, I started a wide exploration on various types of yarns. Since I focused on developing textures and making “fabrics” on my own, I made a collection of fabric samples out of yarns and the embroidery water stabilizer. Throughout the making process, I kept reflecting upon the inspiration from Andy Goldsworthy’s works, creating textures that share visual interests with color patterns, movements and the ways in which materials are placed logically. In this process, I realize the helpfulness and inspiring of making fabric samples when I obtain a vision of the samples turning into larger or multiple pieces and being applied onto the actual ensembles. By next week, I would finish making the bracelet and the straight skirt of the ensembles, starting by replicating the samples into multiple ones.
