Title: Femmes d’aujourd’hui
– What was your initial proposal idea?
My initial proposal idea also consisted of working with Adobe Illustrator. Therefore, the first idea was very different than what I ended up doing. My initial idea was to complete several one-line drawings on Illustrator to create figures out of this one-path technique. It is by exploring the endless vector-drawing possibilities on illustrator that I decided to elaborate my first idea and take it to another more realistic level.
– What materials or techniques did you use?
I had to draw all the lines of the illustrations on in order to create these figures . I had to research some illustrations to find inspiration, learn how to simplify the faces and avoid adding too much details.
– How was the result different than you expected it to be?
I am very satisfied with the final outcome of my illustrations. It was hard to find the right proportions of a face’s components, but I am pleased with the result. I wanted to portray the different styles a women can pull through my illustrations. It was a very challenging yet a fun thing to do. I really enjoyed being in the process of my work owing to the fact that Illustrator makes the work very open to retouching, and that helped a lot.
– What is the element that makes this group of work coherent as a series?
I used the same upper body structure in all of my illustrations in order to make them look similar. Each one of my illustrations portrays a specific style. My approach to shapes and colors is also the same in all of my works. I find my series very cohesive.
