Self-conflict : When I have so many thoughts in my mind, it feels like I’m in deep forest. I don’t know where to go, I don’t know how to get out of that hectic, and I feel like I’m totally isolated from the world. I tried to portray the image of forest under my face, also, dripping watercolor seems like a prison.
Cultural Background : I combined my image and Ha-hoe mask which is Korean traditional mask. I chose this mask because this mask represents Korean spirit the most. The ancestors always tried to find happiness in whatever situation they were in. The smile of the mask shows that motto.
Political Status : Even though Korea is a democratic country, there are still suspicions and doubts about government monitoring and censoring people. I was making the face which looked like I was watching people and above my head, there are people that I’m watching at.
