After the visit at the museum of FIT, I was attracted by an ensemble designed by Comme des Garcons in 2015. It was well-made in unique shapes and multiple materials to present an image of a character from a fairy tale, which is the Little Red. In fact, Fairy Tale Fashion was one of the most fantasy parts curated in this special exhibition since it used high fashion to express numerous fairy tales. I think the curators included this section in the exhibition because fairy tales have influenced a growing number of people to build their imagination world whether they are kids or in adulthood. Throughout the history, there were a great variety of designers creating ensembles based on fairy tales’ characters and conveying different feelings in different ways. When these fashion garments display in exhibitions, they provide viewers with perceptions of dramatic, fantasy, and aesthetic sides of fairy tales. In other words, the fairy tale exhibition will attract more people to visit since different designers have different comprehension on fairy tales whether it is positive or negative. Because of this, garments will be made in different shapes, textures, and materials to show a completely new imagination world. Also, the settings for garments will be connected with those fairy tales. From my perspective, fashion is another unique and creative way to express fairy tales. Besides displaying historical garments at museum, fairy tales’ exhibition will communicate with viewers in more visual ideas and images.
