As for my project 2, I was assigned to make a container for a utensil and the container must be collapsible. The first step I did was to choose a utensil, which was a scissor, since the scissor is portable and has a moving part. Then I mapped the scissor and used the paper to form a 3D sketch model. After that, I transferred the forms and sections of the paper model onto pattern paper in order to create new patterns for the model. I added seam allowance and traced to the heavy muslin. In this case, I cut out the fabric and sew them together to create a tight container for the scissor.
After testing the form of the scissor and fabric, I designed an abstract structure for the container to secure the scissor without touching the exterior walls. I used the white and black plastic foam to form multiple small pieces and constructed them together. After putting them together, I utilized wire to secure the scissor inside of the container.
