As for our Bridge project 3, we were assigned to make half-scale model of ourselves and create transform designs based on ourselves. At first, my classmates helped me measure all of sizes of my body. Based on these measurements, I divided my full sizes by two and created individual patterns for my half-scale model.
Then I used these patterns to cut out each piece from foam and taped them together carefully. I also cut some oval supporting pieces from cardboard for chest, waist, hip, and hip bottom. In this case, I put the straw in the center of each oval in order to support my half-scale model.
After taping those foam pieces together, I utilized printed magazines paper for gluing on foam. Here is my final half-scale model:
After we finished our half-scale model, we had to create a nine step drawing and select one design from that to make a four-view drawing, which would be used as ensembles in 3-dimensions to fit the half-scale model.
In this case, I developed three parts of my ensemble from my research of two archival photographs. My design was inspired by the form and structure of clothes in those two photographs. One photograph was come from Japan and the other was from the European countries. I took some small parts of the photographs and combined two different cultures together. From my four-view design, I transformed my entire design into three pieces: veil, strapless top, and skirt. I want to use some fabric and some recycle materials for this design.
