ILLUSTRATE YOUR WEEK

MONDAY: JANUARY 16TH, 2017. MLK DAY.

A day of rebooting. Most of my days are jam packed with activities and I don’t get much time to rest, so on this day I dedicated all of my time to myself. I also got time to reflect on where I want to go in the next coming months and how I plan to improve myself. The sunset over the horizon is representative of that.

TUESDAY: JANUARY 17TH, 2017

On this day, I received an extremely inspirational message from a stranger. The message basically said that even if it seemed like I was all alone,  I had support from someone who barely even knew me. I had work, so I got dressed and went there; I spent most of the day there too. My days usually revolve around what I’m wearing since fashion is such a large part of everything that I do, and for my job I’m required to dress business-casual which is depicted in my collage.

WEDNESDAY: JANUARY 18TH, 2017

I became ill and spent the entire day in bed. I slept, drank tea and smoked, which made for the perfect remedy. Even though I was on vacation, my body was showing a great deal of signs that told me I needed to maintain a healthier lifestyle, like monitoring what I consume and adjusting my sleep schedule.

THURSDAY: JANUARY 19TH, 2017

I had work again. I work on Madison Avenue, and though New York City is full of people from all different walks of life, there’s not much representation on my block. In my collage there is a man sharply dressed, but I’ve colored over his face with black sharpie. The magazines that these images are chopped from is like Madison Avenue: lacking color.

FRIDAY: JANUARY 20TH, 2017

I had work again on Friday and was able to sell our most expensive suit (The Capstone, ranging from $1200 to $1700). I’ve only been able to sell 2.

SATURDAY: JANUARY 21ST, 2017

The day of the Women’s March. I had work but what was really memorable occurred after I clocked out. Self-explanatory.

SUNDAY: JANUARY 22ND, 2017

I had work again. Being the only woman working in a menswear store, on a street dominated by men, gets tiring. I can say that I do thoroughly enjoy the complications of suiting and finally getting a customer in that suit that fits them just right, but there are negative attributes to every situation. I must admit that I have exponentially improved in conquering them.
