STATEMENT
Solid waste generation in the United States continues to rise at a steady rate. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, Americans generated about 254 million tons of trash in 2013. Yard debris and food waste combined account for nearly 30% of the materials disposed. If the waste is not sorted and is simply buried in a landfill, some of the food waste that would otherwise degrade naturally can produce large amounts of methane. However, naturally degradable waste, such as kitchen waste, can be processed by composting when it is produced at home. My idea and goal is to dispose of some simple degradable waste through earthworm compost. Use earthworms to make them a nutritious soil to maximize their value.By investigating the specific steps of decomposing materials and composting earthworms in the natural environment. A vermicomposting device that can be used in the home was conceived.
I want to reuse the biodegradable wastes such as vegetables, peel, paper towels and other materials produced in the family. I want to use earthworms, fungi and other natural organisms with the help of the waste into the use of pollution-free fertilizer. Many times in our lives we don’t know how to dispose of these rubbish and don’t realize their full value. I think this natural way of making fertilizer and putting it to use is a very good process. Even making the best use of kitchen waste can also make people realize the recycling of materials and the continuation of life in nature.

Questions
I need to understand how this waste is degraded in nature?
What is the difference between compost with organisms such as earthworms?
What device should be designed for treatment?
Inspiration
I got inspired by the “Vegeme”. I think the waste of food can be a used effectively.

I love the “Invisible Food platform”. The waste happened everyday in our lives.

FINAL
REFLECTION
This project is a very interesting assignment. In this project we thought and assumed. Realizable solutions to some environmental problems. Through this project, I learned a lot about food waste disposal and household composting. I thought about a lot of presentation formats, and finally a science popularization of earthworm composting knowledge in the form of a poster. It is very interesting to draw illustrations and typeset text in this process.
