For this Service Image assignment, I decided to design some signs that related to my own life. My first idea was to create a sign for locations that allow people to vape. My first idea about the ‘vaper sign’ was inspired by the ‘Parking Sign.’ Where the main color was green and the capital of the first letter of ‘V’ from ‘Vape’ to show the main point of the sign. Then I also added the element of the vape at the side of the service sign to strengthen the expression of my intention. My second idea of the ‘vaper sign’ was to add the vape and vaper together in the sign to indicate my intention of the ‘vaper sign.’
The second idea of the service sign was inspired by what was happening in China right now– the Wuhan Virus. The way to prevent the virus to spread is to wear the ‘N95 mask.’ Since this is a necessity to protect people; there is a shortage of this product. It would be easier for people to know that if there is a sign that indicates if a store has this product; which people would not need to go inside the store and ask. First, I decided to the box and the mask together with a phrase that of ‘On Sale.’ After talking to Professor Katerina, I came to an understanding that made the sign simpler with only show the mask will be good enough for a service sign. And also the phrase should be ‘For Sale’ instead of ‘On Sale.’ Also color vise, I decided to use yellow as background color and black color to go over the shapes and words on the service sign. But after looking at my final work of the service sign with the cut paper silhouette, I decided to change the basic color of the sign as blue instead of black color to go over the shape. The blue represents safety, trust, dependability, reliability, and responsibility. As of the final work, I decided to use PhotoShop to create my final work to show the profession of my work.
