- Hello, my name is Yu. My major is Communication Design. This is my first year in Parsons as a transferred student. I came from Fujian, China.
- My monument is “Alice in the wonderland.” The monument located in the central park at the north of the Conservatory Water at East 74th Street.
- This monument is made by an artist named José de Creeft.
- The monument was commissioned by a local philanthropist, George Delacorte in honor of his wife, Margarita and as a gift for the children in NYC.
- In the Seminar class, I searched about how one would find their true self by figuring out which part of their memories is true or false.
- I am creating a maze that could fit into adults human to interact.
- The monument I will do is to showcase the story behind the “Alice in Wonderland.” I will counterfeit the story behind the character where Alice is trying to find her true self in the story.
- How did you fabricate your research into a piece?
- The material I will use is Embossing Aluminum.
- Process Photos
- Final documentation photos of the piece.
- The intention of making this counterfeit monument was to show the story behind the story of “Alice in Wonderland.” The reason that I made this monument as a maze was that I wanted to show that it is very easy for people to lose their true selves. But there will always be ways to find their true selves if they wanted to do so.
