For my final piece, I decided to make the sculpture sit on top of the shoulders and the fish scales hanging down on the chest. Inspired by the idea of personal space, I added numerous brads on the shoulders and additional fish scales on the back to have a balanced wearable sculpture. As a half Japanese and Korean citizen, the fish scales brought my attention to the Japanese culture. Hence, I decided to add different textural patterns on each scale to represent a different story of my culture. When the patterns were all put together, it reminded me of a Japanese kimono, which made the sculpture more personal to me. As an artist, I am satisfied with how the sculpture turned out because I was able to express my personal culture to the audience.
