Behind the Screen

  1. Independence Day: The film focuses on disparate groups of people who converge in the Nevada desert in the aftermath of a worldwide attack by an extraterrestrial race of unknown origin. With the other people of the world, they launch a last-ditch counterattack on July 4—Independence Day in the United States.

It’s hard to say about the structure of the film because it only shows a clip of the movie, but I assume it’s a non-linear film because it seems like things happened in the movie were not in order.

  1. Twister: Twister is a 1996 American epic action disaster film directed by Jan de Bont from a screenplay by Michael Crichton and Anne-Marie Martin. It depicts a group of storm chasers researching tornadoes during a severe outbreak in Oklahoma.

It’s hard to say about the structure of the film because it only shows a clip of the movie, but I think it’s a linear style film because things happened in order in the movie.

3.Vertigo: The film stars James Stewart as former police detective John “Scottie” Ferguson. Scottie is forced into early retirement because an incident in the line of duty has caused him to develop acrophobia (extreme fear of heights) and vertigo (a false sense of rotational movement). Scottie is hired by an acquaintance, Gavin Elster, as a private investigator to follow Gavin’s wife Madeleine (Kim Novak), who is behaving strangely.

Again, it’s hard to say about the structure of the film because it only shows a clip of the movie, but I think it’s a linear style film because things happened in order in the movie.

I found the similarity of those three movies is that they were played without the background music for the first time, then we got to pick the music for them. I think they all become more interesting with the music. There are also differences, three movies talked about different content and characters.

The GIF Elevator

I thought the installation pieces were really interesting because it gives me a special experience while standing in the elevator, and it makes the elevator more interactive. I didn’t have one particular that I like but I think three of them make me excited and I curious about what did the artist wants to express.
