Conflict: What’s the central tension or problem of your story?
Is there a creepy old lady living in the dorms alongside the students at Stuy? Our prompt was ‘conspiracy’ and we decided to base our plot round the existing rumour that theres an old lady who lives in one of the apartments at Stuy.
Character: Who are the people telling this story, or acting out its central drama? What do they want?
Two girls, best friends Emily and Charlotte who live as students in the dorms at Stuy, vlog and document their experience exploring the rumor and the building.THey want to find out for themselves if this rumour is real or if it’s just a rumour. Charlotte is trying to convince Emily that the old lady is real since she believes that she has spotted her in the past.
Setting: What kind of world is this short film set in?
Set in the ‘real world’. i felt like filming in this ‘iPhone’ style with a youtube sort of aesthetic felt more authentic and could pass as fake in a more authentic way since it feels very ‘real’ and is playing off of a real rumor so isn’t that far from the truth.
